Rolling in the Dough

I recently got a notice that my car insurance policy was going to be credited because Geico made a mistake calculating my premium. I waited excitedly for the check to find out how much I would get back - it's not every day that some of that money you pay out in bills comes back! Finally the other day it came.

Yep. They sent me a check for 24 cents. I guess they knew I couldn't get by without that last (less than a) quarter in my budget. Thanks Geico!

I'm taking it to the bank.

  1. HA! That's awesome. I wonder how much it cost them for the paper, ink, envelope, and postage for your 24 cent check.

  2. Ha ha My company won't send me a check for under $15. Less than that and I just get a credit on my account. Glad to see Geico knows the value of immediate money. :)

  4. We got a check once for $0.02 (I think itwas from our credit card) Jeff wanted to throw it away, but I wanted to hang it on the fridge... so when I was feeling like we had no money I'd be reminded that we would never be without a little spare change. It did make me giggle numerous times.

  5. Make sure you cash it! I'm sure they bank on the fact that no one will bother making the effort to deposit it, so they "accidentally overcharge" small amounts on a regular basis, multiply times thousands of people and...voila! They're rich! Bastards.
